History of the UFFL Pro Bowl

Looking for a way to make the final week of the NFL's regular season more entertaining?  Trying to find a way to fill the cavernous void between the UFFL season and postseason football? These were questions that had no obvious, clear-cut answer for years ... but rejoice, fantasy football fans, for those days are finally over!

The Ultimate Fantasy Football League Pro Bowl, an annual tradition which started in 2008, takes place during Week 17 of the NFL season, pitting the stars of the Northern Division's teams against the top players from the Southern Division. The head coaches for each team are the regular season fantasy points leaders from each division.

As for the players, both Pro Bowl coaches receive a list of 27 of the best players in their division (based on most points scored during the first 16 weeks of the regular season), and create their starting lineups using their respective lists. Each list will have the top three ranked quarterbacks, top five running backs, top five wide receivers, top three tight ends, top two placekickers, top two punters, top three team defenses and top four individual defensive players.

Effective with the 2010 Pro Bowl, head coaches also had the opportunity to select players who did not appear on the regular ballot from an "emergency players list," at the discretion of the commissioner. The emergency players listed for each division will consist of one quarterback, one running back, one wide receiver, one tight end, one placekicker, one punter, one defensive team/special teams unity and one individual defensive player. The list will feature the highest-scoring players at their respective positions who were not included on the original Pro Bowl ballot. This list should only be consulted if all of the players on the ballot at one or more positions are injured, inactive or are expected to play a limited number of snaps.

As is the case during the regular season and postseason UFFL matchups, both Pro Bowl coaches are required to submit a starting lineup including each of the following: one quarterback, two running backs, three wide receivers, one tight end, one flex position player (running back/wide receiver/tight end), one placekicker, one punter, one team defense/special teams unit and two individual defensive players. Those lineups are then posted on the league's historical website, at http://www.ultimatefantasyfootballleague.net, prior to the opening kickoff of the first game of the week.

Live scoring is not available for the Pro Bowl, since it is an endeavor independent of the Fleaflicker site. However, the commissioner calculates the scores manually as quickly as possible, using the same scoring rules which have been in place all season.

The winner receives bragging rights and kind words from their fellow owners, while the loser suffers shame and humiliation until the player draft, which takes place the following August.
