Calvin Brown

Profile

Calvin, who lives in Baton Rouge, joined the league in 2005 as the assistant general manager of More to Come, a franchise run by Becci Domecillo. For three seasons, he helped set the team's weekly lineups and served as a consultant during the annual draft. Brown was awarded his own expansion franchise March 19, 2008, but when Domecillo resigned several days later, the expansion franchise was eliminated and he assumed control of her team instead.

Calvin became the first rookie owner in league history to win at least 10 regular season games. The bbashers were the first franchise to clinch a berth in the championship bracket during the 2008 campaign, and led the UFFL in points scored, while allowing the second-fewest points. The worst-to-first turnaround for the franchise was the biggest single-season improvement in UFFL history.

Calvin's second season was virtually identical to his first - after dominating the regular season with an 11-2 record, the bbashers were eliminated in the first round of the championship bracket. Brown also finished the 2010 regular season with an 11-2 record, but earned two victories in the postseason round, coming one game shy of participating in the UFFL Bowl. Once again, Brown finished the regular season with an 11-2 mark in 2011 but lost in the second round of the championship bracket. He served as the coach of the Southern Division in the Pro Bowl for each of the game's first four seasons, as a result of leading the South in points scored during the regular season. The bbashers finished with a 9-4 mark during the 2012 regular season, tied for the best record in the league.

In 2013, Calvin lost to Deltaman in UFFL Bowl XII after finishing the regular season with the best record (10-3). However, he has experienced much more postseason success in recent campaigns, having appeared in UFFL Bowls XVIII, XIX and XX, with victories in 2019 versus Football Gal and 2021 versus The Flightless Birds.

Prior to becoming a full-time UFFL owner, Calvin participated for two seasons in Domecillo's ADB Fantasy Football League, winning the Fantasy Bowl championship in 2006. A native of Chicago, Illinois, he is a fan of all of his hometown's local teams, including the Cubs, White Sox, Bulls, Bears, Blackhawks, Sky and Fire. He lived in Kansas City, Missouri for five years before relocating to Louisiana in 2009.
